Been digging Kid America and the crew forever been meaning to start posting these joints. Lil Hipsters is hilarious. I love the social commentary angle to it and how there immediate circle of people is often directly ridiculed. Also love the fact there politically incorrect, offensive and love to push buttons.

There’s a phenomenon in blog world/streetwear sites. Hype is often created or co signatures given to products simply because of the people associated with the project or worse yet because somebody is given access to the said products images first. The thought of having an exclusive image or being first has overridden peoples editorial eye’s collectively and I find this problematic.

Simply put everything is not fresh cause you have access to the image of it first. People need to be more honest with them selves when it comes to this being that the end result often appears like the cosigners at these influential blog sites look like there schilling or worse yet have no critical thought whatsoever. Me I keep the bar raised, I like what I like and here are visual examples of things that were recently cosigned that are jut not up to par.

While I dig some of M.I.A’s music here line looks like bootlegs my Jamaican homies growing up would wear and be ridiculed for to no end. Emperors new clothes for sure. When I saw this in Opening Ceremony it confirmed that people are going for the okie dokie here. Not fresh real talk!

Ok so I went hard on M.I.A’s authentic bootlegs shes rich,hot and recently married so she cant be that upset I figure and me I just am keeping it honest. Here’s a few other examples of the emperors new clothes.

HypeBeast had this piece of basura up the other day…..Real talk this hat is weak weak wak!

And these come on man those are otherpedic looking I don’t care of Tinker Hatfield made those there horrible….I wonder do you get a free bowl of soup with each purchase…Once again the beast called Hype ran with this one……..Just straight horrible…..Velcro straps are never fresh ever, go get some laces and then talk to me.

And finally the brand/man who is capable of amazing work has proven once again he is also capable of baloney like this. I recently got a pair of these Frisbees pawned of on me when I popped by the Nike office. Can’t imagine I’m ever gonna rock these ever fuck man I can’t even pimp these at Flight Club I bet. My luck I got the green ones thrust upon me. Even on St.Patrick’s day I wouldn’t rock em not even for a four leaf clover and a free green beer. Not Fresh indeed.

There’s many other examples, a matter of fact I could hit up the usual suspect cites daily and come across something wak being praised 6 out of 7 days a week/weak. My thought is man just cause you got it first don’t make it fresh never did and it never will. Cosigning garbage makes me question ones credibility. I believe there’s a large section of the creative community that gets by on it’s past laurels, it’s perceived cache or it’s long standing involvement in the community. These are a few examples I ran across all in one day trolling the various cites.

I respect all of the cites at large but the real is the real and if your product ain’t up to snuff I’m calling it out plain and simple. Weak is weak and there’s no free passes over here ya heard?

Glen E Freidman and Myself……I have known Glen over 20 years….He is one of the people who’s evolution and involvement in many different scenes is paramount to my own…Glen love him or hate him is important in the big picture and my rules his book/zine was/is amazing! Glen got a son now and lives down the block from me but I never see him anymore. Glen is offical

This one is important. This is Fred Buggs and Steve Carr. Bugsy is one of the early champions of rap music on the radio in NYC , the former program director at Kiss FM and the person who ok’d the first mix show on commercial radio in NYC. Bugsy always gave me a lot of love when I was coming up and for that he eternally has a place in my heart. Me and Bugsy have history. The other cat in this picture is Steven Carr who use to be Cey’s partner in the drawing board and designed a ton of record covers and logo’s. Steve graduated to be a serious film maker. He directed The Pacifier with Vin Diesel, Next Friday with Ice Cube and a ton of other flicks. I’m proud of Steve and I have a crazy story about him I’m gonna tell after the pic.

Once in LA I bumped into Steve at a crazy Maxim party. He asked/demanded that I get him in touch with my little homie Justin Pierce who he had meet with me at the farmers market a few months earlier. Justin was in the flick Kids and in the film A Brothers Kiss that my man Seth Rosenfield wrote and directed and was the little homie. Steve was looking for Justin to have him test for Friday after next. He demanded I find him Justin’s contact info. What he didn’t realize is Justin was 10 feet away from him so I marched Steve over to Justin and Justin ended up getting the role sans a screen test. Justin is no longer with us as he took his own life several years ago. I was glad I could connect my two friends and the end result was we were left with a piece of Justin on film that we can all reflect on now that he is no longer with us.

Funny how small things can mean alot after people die like my little homie Justin. Steve’s a good dude and he brought that up to me the other night. His words had emotion behind them and I say thanks Steve for reminding me of that night in LA when I linked you and Justin. I had almost forgot.

YOUR BIOS ARE BULLSHIT: DONT MAKE ME CALL YOUR NAME OUT

I recently was hipped to the fact that most peoples bios are self composed bullshit. I was specifically hipped to one young hucksters bio which actually made me laugh out loud. It contained words like skate mogul and hipster all over the place and was the most ridiculous piece of basura I had stumbled across in a while till I was put up on a bio written by someone I shit canned a few years ago. This pencil neck geek basically took credit for any and everything I did while he worked for me short of producing my records for me. I’m still curious whats a production coordinator do for me again?

This type of shit is becoming epidemic and honestly it’s bullshit at it’s finest and in the spirit of bullshit here’s my new bio:I know what you really have done and honestly people it aint that special trust. Look at my baloney now.

My Bio:

I was born in 1970. While in my mothers womb I invented the sun,air,water and life itself. When I wasn’t busy doing all that I reinvented lower Manhattan as Downtown hence unearthing everything cool ever. In my side time I also created the golden age of hip-hop single handily and changed the whole worlds musical vocabulary. Besides that I also am responsible for these youth movements: street wear, graffiti, sneaker culture and outsider art. Now ride my balls I already am and I have room for others cause there so huge.

What do you guys think? I may have been to subtle ( note sarcasm)
