TEDDY PENDERGRASS REST IN POWER

Uncategorized January 14th, 2010

One of the last great Soul men…..Teddy Pendergrass was a huge superstar in the last 70’s thru the 80’s up until his tragic car accident which left him in a wheel chair for the remainder of his life. From Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes till his amazing solo career which including a gang of chart toppers like Love TKO,Turn off the lights, Close the Door, and you got what I need.

He was a monstrous live performer, his reputation and his penchant for doing women only tours were things of legend. Teddy P rock on thanks for the music this is one of the first songs I ever sampled right here:

wake-up-everybody

Here goes one inspired by Teddy I cooked up a few ago. Thanks for the inspiration

And my favorite Teddy song of all time:

07-love-tko

with the passing of Willie Mitchell and now Teddy P the soul music collective/massive has taken some big hits of late. Soul music is one of the greatest contributions by black America and is a part of the landscape of this country. It is Black Americana music and watching some of it;s architects pass the last few is troubling. I wonder will traditional soul music survive much like the blues or will it pass on to obscurity in this day of horrible r and b that passes for music but lacks any form of spirituality or subtlety.

Rest In Poweer Teddy Pendergrass you truly were an inspiration and with your passing one of the last true soul men has left the earth.  Thanks for the music it will live forever!

Enjoy
