ART BASEL: THE HEAVY HITTERS

Uncategorized December 11th, 2009

Picasso like you didn’t know…After 2 days straight of looking at contemporary art seeing this stuff was like cleaning my pallet…..There is a reason why so few modern artists will ever reach this level of import

This would be Joan Miro a child hood favorite of mine

Kandinsky possibly my all time favorite artist. My mom used to take me to museums as a little kid and Kandinsky along with Leger were the first painters that ever moved me and got me psyched on art. Thanks mom!

Andrew Calder another favorite of mine. His mobiles are amazing and inter active. He wanted people to play with his work it was all built for motion and inter activity. He was a genius!

Andrew Calder his mobiles are amazing which you may be more familiar with

There were a lot of Jean Micheal Basquits on hand. here goes a few I really dug. I knew Jean Micheal he was a total trip he dug me cause I was a broke skating bboy he thought I was funny!

Andy Warhol seems fitting to show next as he was a friend and contemporary of sorts with Basquit as the did a series of paintings together.

This is another brilliant artist Roy Lichenstein

This is Francisco Botero he liked big girls…..he was amazing, humorous and very very talented!

This is a one of from a personal favorite of mine Victor Vaserly…Haze is deeply influenced by his work as are many modern artists.

Last but certainly not least not least Keith haring a genius in his own right

All in all a beautiful walk through a art history class more or less. I know for me when I can see works like these it helps me understand the big picture a little bit clearer.

Enjoy
