MORE DENNIS McNETT:YEAR OF THE WOLFBAT PT 2

Uncategorized August 5th, 2009

I wanted to post some more of Dennis’ work today since I had such a strong reaction to his work when I posted it yesterday. Dennis has a show in LA this weekend if your in town come out to it I think you will really enjoy it.

These wood block cuts are unreal. Dennis then prints these on some form of canvas usually muslin to create his paintings and prints. These are 4 by 8 feet and unreal

Note the tapestry below printed from the wood cut above…This is a one of a kind piece and the technique is unreal!

Another wood block this one is unreal as is the work created from it…Lately Dennis has created the wood blocks themselves as works of art as opposed to the prints and screens he has created in the past…..I want one real talk!

Here is another wood block carving….it is unreal

The canvas below created from the wood block above…..The amount of craftsmanship that goes into Dennis’ work is really impressive. There is a life time of craftsmanship involved in Dennis’ work which is a lot more than I can say for your average wheat pasting SVA student.

This tapestry is just unreal my pic doesn’t do it justice I shoot these prior to getting the G10 and I can really tell the difference sorry guys but I did step my game up recently…..

Dennis also creates lots of prints which i have a bunch of…The print work is great and is probably where my modern Pushead thought comes in to play

Here’s some other great stuff Dennis creates…he makes all kinds of masks some what reminiscent of Day of the dead aka the Mexican celebration that Halloween is loosely based on…Here’s your truly and Dennis modeling some of these amazing creations……

And some more of the stuff he’s best known for skateboards aka Anti Hero skateboards that is…..

He has done a ton of graphics for Anti Hero….Funny little story I don’t really know the anti hero cats except for John Cardiel who was crashing at my house a few weeks ago. he invited the Anti Hero cats over including TNT, Hewitt and the crew minus Julian Stranger. Were in the pad burning one and all of a sudden Hewitt’s like dude I been here before. TNT chimes in and says yeah on The Berrics ….Everyone starts laughing then Cardial and those guys started tripping on my 8 foot long wolf Sculpture that I got from Dennis….Dudes were like dam you got a Anti Hero friendly pad…Pretty funny the power of the Internet ya know?

This is the wolf that is in my house…It’s sick!

And here’s a nice psychedelic painting of Dennis’

And last but not least a shot of Dennis hanging a tapestry!

Here’s the invite again for Saturday’s show if you live in LA be there or be L7 ya dig?
