MIRIAM MAKEBA REST IN POWER

We gonna Make it: Miriam Makeba
Quit it Now
One of the greatest African singers of all time passed last week. Miriam Makeba was a freedom fighter of the highest order. She was exiled from her country South Africa in 1963 for her vocal anti-aparthied beliefs. She was married to activist Stokely Carmichael and later the South African musician Hugh Masekela. She was a close personal friend of Nelson Mandelas singing at his release celebration in London in 1990. She also made some amazing and beautiful music in her 35 year long career. Here’s a few tunes I dig by her produced by the one and only David Axelrod.
Miriam Makeba was a heroine in her native South Africa and suffered for her beliefs and principals. She had a long triumphant career and stood up to oppression and in justice in a time when it could cost you your life. Thats some serious stuff right there something some how I don’t think emo kids will ever have to go through.
Thanks for the music and living your life like a warrior the worlds a better place for it.
