I regrettably didn’t see last years performance so I can’t compare the 2. I wonder if it was 77 last year and 88 this year becuase of those numbers relation to the piano ( 77 is a baby grande piano’s amount of keys and 88 is a grand piano’s number of keys)
Each concert began this year at 8:08 PM local time and featured 88 drummers selected by Boredoms and Hisham Bharoocha the concert’s director. Boredoms themselves appeared in Los Angeles, with Gang Gang Dance conducting the Brooklyn gig. The gig had a few moments that were tremendously powerful when everyone fell into there respective grooves and created a drum symphony of sorts. I liked this specific part of the performance/ This was the worlds biggest drum circle of sorts albeit with 88 drummers all small kits consisting of one floor tom, one rack tom,a Kick and a snare plus a crash open and closed hi hat. As someone who plays the drums I was impressed.
Pretty inventive piece of music in a cool setting glad I stopped by on the humble good looks to Josh at Nike for the heads up . Check out Jalil the drummer from TV on the Radio holding it down in the video he was one of the drum section leader’s. I wonder what there gonna do next year to top this?
