OG STEVE OLSON ROCKS NYC!
Tonight in Willyburger at the infamous KCDC skate shop there celebrating the release of my boy Steve Olson’s sneaker with Vans. Steve was skater of the year in 1978, he was the first cat to introduce punk rock stylings into skating ( along with Steve Alba and a few others) the first person to ever do an air over the upland channel as well as the first person in all of skateboarding to ever use the classic new wave checker board design that has become the norm. He did this in 1978 recognize!

Olson was also in an early Devo video I believe it was for Freedom of Choice. If you ain’t up on Devo your loss they rock and half the electro groups out nowadays (Santo Gold, MIA, The Battles) are knee deep on the bozak real talk. Peep young Olson in his leather jacket glory! I think the squid next to him is a young Brad Bowman another cat who was early on the new wave tip. I heard he’s a famous hair dresser now or something fucked like that

The guy was so far ahead of his time it ain’t funny. Couple that with being father to Alex Olson the shining star of the recent Lakai video Fully Flared and you have the greatest father and son skate duo ever! Olson is LA the way guys like me are NYC and for that the city of Angels is more than lucky!
