JEREMY HENDERSON, DEATHBOWL TO DOWNTOWN AND MORE……
By now the whole world knows about the flick DEATHBOWL TO DOWNTOWN and whatever you feel about the final result this week was a special week in New York with a bunch of OG’s coming to town to check out the film and the events surrounding it. Saw a bunch of old friends, went to the fish way to much and watched good vibes flow all week long. The highlight of the week for me was hanging with Jeremy Henderson my OG pal Watching him and several other friends of mine get their props the past few was a great thing to witness. Jeremy was a serious life influence on me, a spiritual big brother so to speak and someone whom I eternally respect and admire.
Here’s the invite to the shindig:

Here’s some pics and whatnot: Jeremy and his daughter Kaya, I hadn’t seen her since she was about 5 years old.
OG Status: Joey Tershay OG from the west-side , Jeremy Henderson , Eric Haze, me and Andy Kessler OG NYC skate legend after the opening
This is Papo Paponelli and Jeremy Henderson…Papo ruled with style in NYC vert skating from the late 70’s till the early 90′. He’s a great dude and was a tremendous influence on me growing up
The Foundation Jeremy Henderson, The future Luis Tolentino, OG’s Keith Hufanagel and Felix Arguiles this is a serious group of cats……
Jeremy Henderson, Jamie Afumato aka PuppetHead my friend since age 9 and a OG ripper, Eric Haze and Andy Kessler original OG Zoo York/Soul Artist crew
This is Bruno Musso and Peter Bici. Bruno started Shut and is a great guy I taught him how to play hooky and Peter is one of the biggest personality’s I know…..true NYC skate cats right here
There was a ill after party at the Tunnel where there used to be a half pipe in the late 80’s early 90’s……Here’s Eli Gessner and Alex Corporan…….2 OG’s who helped really make this a special week.
This exhibition was great…..a serious stroll down memory lane…….
Jeremy Hendersons artwork from the Etnies showroom exhibition.
These were taken by Alex Corporan. This picture is of 2 friends of mine John Carter a unsong skater and musician and Justin Pierce who passed away several years ago. He was a great dude I spent a memorable New Years in LA with him in 1999 I will never forget it.

This was taken by Eli Gessner. The photo exhibit was an emotional viewing for me more so than the film, I saw a lot of images of friends of mine who were either no longer with us, had moved on to another chapter in life or incarcerated in a few instances. It was great to remember the unacknowledged who contributed to the overall story of NYC skating……
This is Jules Gayton one of the godfathers of skating and DJing in NYC and a dear friend.
This was created by Andy Kessler and is compromised of letters from Harry Jumonji sent to Kessler from prison
Glen Friedman took this pic of Luke Moore he was the first NYC skater to get coverage …….He inspired a generation of kids he never knew including me….Glen will probably get tight about me posting his images knowing Glen but he can handle it………Nuff said
And this is Tom Groholski….. He was nicknamed the Jersey Devil he owned a half pipe in Fort Lee NJ that had previously been in Staten Island at a park we called the A and W park. We used to hop the fence and skate it after it went out of business….It was fiberglass and u got serious rug burn when u fell on that thing but it was still dope….. Tom was a really nice guy photo Glen E Friedman……
This is a classic Kessler shot late 70’s styles…..Photo Wesley Boxe…..We used to have serious Graffiti beef with that guy the irony of me posting this pic is endless…..
This is my childhood friend John Rave….This is the WestBeth Oxo Moxo ramp that I grew up skating…… Rave overcame cancer as a kid to become a great skater and athlete, he is one of my oldest friends!
This is my friend Jamie who was a good skater. Growing up once again this is the WestBeth ramp which to my knowledge was never documented before….A woman named Shelly Secombe took these shots. She was not a skater at all, she was a photographer and a nice lady who lived in the building where many years later my studio was and still is to this day…….. Here’s one more: check out the grom in the hat and tube socks is it me or not? Puppet says yes I say mmmmnah…….Looks like some ish I could have worn but I don’t know…….
Here’s a parting shot of a young Bruno Musso and even younger Harold Hunter…….I had a great week strolling down memory lane with a bunch of OG friends…..I want to thank the following people for the past week of smiles…..Alex Corporan, Jeremy Henderson, Andy Kessler, Puppethead aka Jamie Afumato, Eli Gessner, Joey Humaries, Ham, Joe y and Nick Tershay, Bruno Musso, Bici, Rodney and Adam from Shut, Chris Mckinney ( u the man!), Chris Ryan, Papo Paponelli, Harry Jumonji, Craig Weatherby, Ian Frahm wherever he is for all the childhood memories, Ivory Serra who curated the show, and Buddy and Rich who made the film. I don’t know those cats but I dug the effort and despite the criticism directed they’re efforts need to be respected the deserve that much for putting there necks on the line cause you know they didn’t make any real money on this thing it was a labor of love and that’s for real.
There’s so many other people I wanna thank but I’m spacing right now…….. Please forgive me and if you feel you should be included than you are!
Later and enjoy this was a special moment for a lot of us
